Requirements

Our Entrance Requirements - Joining the Club is Easy!

Gaining full access to the Club and its services is quite simple.

1. Register

It starts with Registration. This allows us to know as much as we can about your dog. Click here to fill out the registration form.

2. Health Requirements and Vaccination Check*

Included in this process is a thorough screening for overall good health. The good news is once you are registered with us, we provide you with convenient reminders for all vaccinations.

We require a 7-day waiting period after 1st time vaccines and a 48-hour waiting period for all other administered vaccines.  Call Club Barks front desk for more information or if you have any questions.

The following are mandatory vaccinations your dog must have prior to entering; we must have a copy of the proof of vaccinations prior to their stay:

Canine Influenza Virus
As of  November 1st, 2010, the H3N8 (Canine Influenza Virus) vaccine will be required.  It is not automatically administered by vets.  You must request the vaccine.  First-time vaccines must be administered in 2 doses at least 2 weeks apart.  It is then administered annually.

Rabies
Rabies boosters must be administered according to your veterinarian’s recommendation. This is usually annually or every 3 years.

**First-time rabies vaccinations must be administered at least 7 days prior to your dog entering the facility.

Distemper/Parvovirus/Parainfluenza (Often referred to simply as the Distemper shot; DHLPP, D2LP)
This booster must be must be administered according to your veterinarian’s recommendation.  This vaccination is generally required annually or every 2-3 years. Check with your vet.

We DO accept titre tests.

Bordetella
Bordetella is not automatically administered by vets, unless they know you are intending to socialize your dog. It is a shot you must specifically request.  In general, most veterinarians administer Bordetella annually. However, we  require this vaccination to be updated every 6 months.  Bordetella  helps protect against Kennel Cough, but is not 100% effective. See here for more info about kennel cough.

**First-time Bordetella vaccinations must be administered at least 7 days prior to your dog entering the facility.

Other Health Requirements

  • Free of fleas, ticks, or any communicable disease
  • 16 weeks or older
  • Must be spayed or neutered. Puppies under 6 months are exempt.

Please do not bring your dog for the first time without speaking to a Club Barks staff member prior to your visit.

3. Meet and Greet*

In addition to screening for good health, we require a face-to-face meet-and-greet. This allows us to know every dog that comes through our doors. Unfortunately, our open-play environment is not for every dog. If we feel that your dog might not thrive well at the Club, we may decline their access. This is to ensure the safety of all guests, as well as your dog’s own safety. Reasons for declining access may include:

  • Dog shows signs of aggression toward humans and/or other dogs.
  • Dog is not able to socialize well and is fearful or showing signs of discomfort.

We want all guests to enjoy their stay at the Club, enabling them to take full advantage of all the benefits of exercise and socialization.

*Club Barks has the right to decline entrance into the facility and use of its services if certain requirements are not met.
